Initial lecture – The school of spiritist education

         Opening Prayer

         First: It’s time for the Spiritist Teachers to introduce themselves and welcome the children into the class.

         Second: please tell them the story “A school of love”. Before you do this, please read the following observations.

         Obs.: 1 – The story should be adapted and told in accordance with the information related to your Spiritist Centre. Please include the name of your group and of the spiritist teacher so the children can identify the Spiritist Centre she/he will come regularly. The story should reflect the reality of the children.

         2 – Please make the story interactive. If you see areas highlighted in bold, please ask these questions to the children. The spiritist teacher can comment on the answers given by them.

         3 – The children were paying a lot of attention into this story, as during the narrative we built a puzzle. This became a beautiful poster which was used to identify the group/cycle and was attached to the front door of our classroom.

Poster Puzzle:

         Please use two board papers. Please write on the first one: Spiritist Education, embark in this story! You should now glue a picture of children in the middle of it. Please also write as you wish with colorful pens several phrases/themes they will learn about at spiritist education classes. Please make sure these phrases are mentioned as you tell them the story. The first board paper should be cut as puzzle. As you tell them the story, the spiritist teacher should assemble the puzzle little by little. The second board paper should be taken to the class; the puzzle should then be assembled on it.

         The spiritist teacher could draw the shape of the puzzle pieces with a pencil on the second board paper. This would make the process of assembling the puzzle much easier. You could also number the different parts as well as the shapes.

         Suggested phrases/topics for the panel:

          Love is the way;

          Jesus is my friend;

          I am never alone;

          I am an immortal spirit;

          Friendship;

          Charity;

          God is our Father;

          Good man;

          Forgiveness;

          Peace;

          Love to plants and animals;

          Reincarnation;

          Mediumship.

         Third: This is a technique which will enable the children to present themselves to one another. Please distribute colored pieces of paper with three questions for the children to answer. As soon as they answer the questions, please ask them to mix the papers all together. You will now ask one child to take one from the pile and try to identify his/her colleague through the answers given. Please make sure every child finds the person who is the owner of the paper. The spiritist teacher can help if necessary. You will then ask each child to present her/his colleague who was the owner of the paper they got from the pile. Please ask the child who is being presented to stand up, so the others can see him/her. At the end of this activity, you can ask one child to volunteer for another task. You will then ask the volunteer to say out loud the names of all colleagues and teachers (the other colleagues can help him/her). This was a very fun game. It helped the spiritist teacher and the children to learn each others’ names and get to know themselves a little bit.

         Fourth: please distribute a note the parents, which will give orientations and elucidations regarding Spiritist Education for Children and Youth at the spiritist centre.

         Fifth: please distribute a small ‘treat’ for the children as a welcome gift. Please find a suggested note to be placed around the sweets.
