I am a Spirit: My Spiritual Body

First - Opening prayer: The Spiritist Volunteer will ask one child to read one topic of the “The Lord’s Prayer”. The Spiritist worker will introduce a box of prayer after the prayer and will ask for one child to volunteer himself/herself to read the prayer for the class. Please ask the child to say his/her words as well, as to complement the opening prayer.

Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Play hot potato game with the children. When the music stops the child who is holding the hot potato ball will be asked to say what they like the most at the Spiritist Centre (their favourite activity, their favourite time, my favourite parable…)

Third: Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

+++ sing other songs from the songs’ list as per attached here.

+++ please find an additional list of songs attached here.

Fourth: Tell the children the story called ‘Our lives’

         Fifth: Conversation about the story

         What did we learn today?

         How many bodies we have?

Do you remember what happened with John’s grandmother?

         What did John dreamed about?

Did someone have the same experience as John?

What should we do when we remember someone very close to our heart that has already passed away?

         Can we cry?

Can we talk about our feelings? Is it a nice thing to do?

What do you think about Tony’s attitude?

Sixth: Activity - Prepare our bodies, in paper, following the picture below which was taken from the internet.

Seventh: Activity - The Spiritist Volunteer will bring 2 paper dolls (girl and boy). We will also stick some words on them, such as: disobedient, lies, unhappy, jealousy, and pride, angry … Look how our spiritual body became when we choose behave badly. The Spiritist Volunteer should bring 2 outlined bodies in a dark colour paper to highlight the damaged perispirit.

Now we have a chance to make them happy. Let’s wear them with virtues.
The volunteer can either bring clothes with virtues written on them or let the children choose one virtue.

Now the Spiritist Volunteer will bring 2 outlined bodies in a clear or transparent paper.
Notice now that the boy and the girl have been dressed up with many virtues and their perispirit is cleaned.

Which one would you like to have: the dark or white one? We should always try to behave well such as helping our friends, helping at home our parents and brothers/sisters, obeying mum and dad,… (Ask them for more examples of good behaviour).

Eighth: Activity - Each kid should draw, colour and decorate their own spiritual Body.

Ninth: Healing Theatre: Introduce our Special Guest of the day - Prepare the kids for the healing time and say that someone very important would come to join us today. The kids should be allowed enough time with the Spirit Benefactor, who can either explain the importance of the healing for us or answer their questions.

Tenth: Preparation for closing prayer - Two kids should choose a passage, either from the Gospel According to the Spiritism for the kids or The Spirits Book for kids. The volunteer will encourage the others kids to volunteer themselves for reading it.

Eleventh: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.

         Extra activity.

Class suggested being suitable for: Kindergarten (5 to 6 years old).

Spiritist volunteer: Juana Castro, London, linked to The Spiritist Psychological Society.
