The Importance of Spiritist Teachings

         This lesson can also be used as the first class of the year, in which students learn and understand the importance of upcoming spiritist education classes.

         Greetings and Opening prayer

         First: Distribute small pieces of cardboard so that children write their name, grade, age and something related to the lessons they have learned in Spiritist education classes (those who never participated before must write down good things they want to learn about). Collect the cards and distribute them so that each child picks a card that’s different from theirs. Ask each child to introduce the colleague who is described on the card they took to the rest of the group. The spiritist teacher can participate and, if necessary, begin the presentations.

         Second: tell the story called the treasure map.

         The spiritist teacher will need the following materials to tell the story:

         1 - A puzzle that will form the poster. You can use a thicker paper; the size of a cardboard or greater. The pieces of the puzzle must be previously hidden in the room, before beginning the lesson. We used various figures of children and youth to form the poster. In the middle, we used a large picture of Jesus; a phrase could also be added to complement the poster.

         2 - Four or five maps (depending on the number of groups in which children will be divided) with the drawing of the room and the place where pieces of the puzzle are hidden. White sheets of paper, painted with coffee, could be used to draw the maps. It’s interesting to knead and form a roll tying it with a string, to give the impression of being an ancient map.

         3 - A gift box that will contain ‘The Gospel According to Spiritism’ and the note from the story.

          Third - activities:

         1 - Distribute the story The Treasure Map to be read and commented with their families;

         2 - Distribute sheets for them to draw The Gospel According to Spiritism and write good things they learned in spiritist education classes or want to learn; which were explained in the beginning of class.

         Note: here's suggestion received from Adriana Timón, Peruíbe/SP.

         Small maps, can be done in Kraft paper; tear the edges.

         Large map, can be done in cardboard.

         Interfere in history after the paragraph below, inviting the children to help Saul find the treasure.
         - Here it is - the mother said , holding a paper that looked like a map, with the design of the house and an "x" indicating the place.

         Note left by her mother along with a copy of The Gospel According to Spiritism.
