First: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them and how important they are for the class. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the opening prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.

         After that, the Spiritist worker will introduce the “Raffle Box of Prayers”. In your turn, each child will open the box, choose one prayer and read it loudly for whole class. We will do it until all the kids have their chance to choose and read a prayer.

         When the activity with the “Raffle box of Prayers” finishes the volunteer will collect the booklet “The Lord’s Prayer” with the children who was responsible in the previous week.

         The volunteer can make up a few questions, such as:

         * What did you most like in this prayer;

         * What could you learn during the week with the prayer and others

         The child can also read the prayer for his/hers colleagues. Another child will be able to choose himself/herself to take the booklet home and bring next week, at the end of this activity.

         P.S. At the end of the class the parents will be informed and also asked about their availability to bring the booklet next week.

         Second: The volunteer will discuss with the children about the prayer “Prayer for my friend who is ill” from the book LEARNING HOW TO PRAY – A BOOK OF PRAYERS FOR CHILDREN by Elsa Rossi. Each one will also receive a copy of the prayer.

         Prayer of Gratitude

         Dear Jesus, yesterday I prayed to God, who is our Father, to help my Dad feel less sad.
         God listened to my prayer because today he came home from work smiling and happy.
         I know that God helped him because he found a better job and he won’t have to worry so much about bills.
         When you talk to your Dad, Dear Jesus, give him a hug for me.
         Thank you Jesus!

         Third: This week’s lesson involves the ways that we will show love to one another. We will play a game right now “Loving Actions.” Ask the children to take turns coming up with creative ways to show love (such as greeting someone, opening the door for someone, kissing boo boos, or offering a drink) which will be done as a game of silent charades. Each child will need to act out his/her “Loving Action” without words so that the other children can guess what they are doing. The volunteer will bring photographs to inspire ideas for showing love to different people such as grandparents, friends, teachers and strangers. Please remind them sometimes we show love to different people in different ways and it is important to know the appropriate way for each person.

         Fourth: Make a card for someone you love - Ask the children child who they would like to make a card for and talk about why they chose that person. Is that person kind to them? Do they enjoy spending time with that person? Ask the children to think about how that person makes them feel and how they can try to display those same qualities to other people around them. Get them to make a card for that person.

         Fifth: Activity called - The Golden Rule: Following the Golden Rule is one way the children show love to others. Adapt the rule by having the children consider how a sibling, classmate or stranger wants to be treated. Also consider ways not to annoy others as an extension of the Golden Rule. The volunteer will bring a bag with written scenarios, such as a homeless man on the street, a child without toys or friends in a room full of toys and a sibling who doesn’t feel well. Each child will have a turn to pick a written scenario from the bag and discuss ways to respond or role-play what he/she might do.

         Sixth: Create a Jesus' life book - The volunteer will first explain they will prepare a book with all the stories told and lived by Jesus. Children will be asked to colour the hardcover of the file and also write down a name for the book. The volunteer will then bring the story of the boy printed (please see the pictures below)

         The kids should put the pictures of the story in sequence and also write about what happened in each picture. They should put the first story inside of their book as soon as they finish.


         Jesus Feeds Five Thousand

         Seventh: Show the children a video about the Parable of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:26-37). Mention to the children that Jesus instructs us to “love our neighbour as ourselves.” When asked “Who is our neighbour?” he responds with this story. The Good Samaritan is a good example of what it means to be a Christian. We should learn to notice and then act when others are in need.

         Eighth: Activity which was found on the internet about the Parable of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:26-37)

         Ninth: Reading Time - Spiritist Books for children will be placed on the table. The child would be invited to share, to read and say what they see when they are reading.

         Tenth: Healing Theatre - The volunteer will bring many pieces of paper with some good and bad instructions. 2 children will participate on the activity at time. 1 child needs to sit down on the chair meanwhile the other will read the instructions. The child who is sat down should follow the instructions told by the colleague. If these are good instructions the child should stick it on a board created by the volunteer. However, if these are bad instructions, the child should throw it in a ‘bin’.

         Eleventh: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the closing prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.
