Water


         First: Opening prayer get the children to repeat after the Spiritist volunteer. As weeks go by the Spiritist volunteers should encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks unfold. The child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the closing prayer at the end of the session.

         Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

         Ask the children afterwards:
         - Who likes to drink water?
         - How much water do you drink at home?
         - Do you know where the water comes from?

         * What might happen if they didn't respect nature?
         * Do you know where the water comes from?
         * The rain comes from the clouds. The clouds are made of water vapour. When lots of clouds get together that’s when rain happens
         * What about the rain? Who created the rain?
         * God, our loving Father, created all beings and resources for our development. The water is very important for us. Our bodies are primarily made of water.
         * What’s the purpose of the rain?
         * The purpose of the rain is to enable life on planet earth. It would not be possible for life to exist without the rain. All living creatures rely on the rain: human beings, animals and plans.
         * What do we need water for?

         Fourth: Get two children to help with this exercise. They will mimic situations where we use water such as:
         - Cooking
         - Drinking
         - Shower
         - Wash clothes
         - Wash hands
         - Brush teeth
         - Offer water to the dog
         - Clean the house
         - Flush the toilet
         - Wash hair
         - Water the plants

         Fifth: You probably noticed the importance of water but how can we conserve and protect this vital resource? Show them the video called Water - Who Needs It?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l67HwLegDLE

         Sixth: Get the children to build up a poster about water and nature. Bring pictures of animals and plants for them to colour their work. Ask them to colour animals and plants, as they are our friends. We should preserve the water in order to have it available for future generations.

         Seventh: Colouring page water related, taken from the internet.


         Eighth: Get the children to help cleaning the room; one of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.
