The Seasons


         First: Opening prayer - The Spiritist Volunteer will ask one child to read one topic of the “The Lord’s Prayer”. After will introduce a raffle of prayer and ask for one child to volunteer himself/herself to read the prayer for the class. Please ask the child to say his/her words as well, as to complement the opening prayer.

         Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Play hot potato game with the children. When the music stops the child who is holding the hot potato ball will be asked their favourite season and what they like doing during this time.

         Third: Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

         Fourth: Introduction of the topic - Seasons
         Today we are going to talk about the seasons.
         Does someone know all the seasons? Let’s remember (Wait for their answer).
         Repeat the seasons with them
         Another idea: bring poster with pictures of each season and ask them the differences and the importance of each one.

         Let’s have a think:
         Why has God created the sun for?
         Why has God created the rain for?
         Why has God created the windy for?
         Why has God created the ice for?
         (The Spiritist Volunteer can bring pictures of each type of season for this activity). The Spiritist Volunteer will also emphasise about God and His creation.

         Sixth: Activity - Create 4 Big Seasons’ Posters (please note all these pictures have been taken from the internet).

         * Winter
         * Spring
         * Summer
         * Autumn


         The Spiritist worker can encourage the kids to make their own drawings on the poster too.

         Question can be made up during the exercise such as:
         * How we should protect ourselves during each season?
         * What can we do to help out during each season?
         * How can we help the nature?

         Seventh: Live Theatre The sun light .

         Eighth: Preparation for healing - The Spiritist volunteer will bring 2 balloons; one with sad face and the other with happy face. One chair will be positioned in the middle of the room and one child at time should seat there. The child should show how they have to behave during the healing time. All the rest of the class should say what balloon we should raise up, according to the child’s behaviour.

         Ninth: Preparation for closing prayer - Kids should choose a passage from the: Gospel According to the Spiritism for the kids, The Spirits Book for kids or the Heaven or Hell. The volunteer will encourage the others kids to volunteer themselves for reading and give a quickly comment about it.

         Tenth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.

         Extra activity: Show the importance of each season. All God’s Creation.

         Class suggested being suitable for: Nursery (3 to 4 years old) and Kindergarten (5 to 6 years old).
