The Man and the Nature

First: Opening prayer; get the children to repeat after the Spiritist volunteer. As weeks go by the Spiritist volunteers should encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks unfold. The child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the closing prayer at the end of the session.

Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

Good morning

Good morning, good morning, good morning (say the name of one of the children)
I am so happy today. Hooray!
Good morning, good morning, good morning (say the name of one of the children)
My heart wants to say
Good morning, good morning, good morning (say the name of one of the children)

Let's all sing and play
For Nature is so beautiful and wise
Teaches us to love every day

+++ repeat this song if necessary, as every child should hear their name being sang; this will help the children to feel integrated into the group)

+++ sing other songs from the songs’ list as per attached here.

+++ please find an additional list of songs attached here.

Third: Get the children to sit down into a circle. Tell them we are going to learn a little bit more about the nature and how we can help, use and have a special relation to.

Introduce the new song ‘My God is so Big’ (The Spiritist worker will prepare a poster with the lyrics).

‘My God is so Big’

My God is so Big,

My God is so Big,
So strong and so mighty,
There is nothing that He cannot do (2x)

The rivers are His,
The mountains are His,
The stars are His handy work too.

Sing: ”I like the Flowers” (The Spiritist worker will prepare a poster with the lyrics). As it is a very popular song we can ask if they know and invite them to sing all together.

I like the flowers
I like the daffodils
I like the mountains
I like the green hill
I like the fire stone
I like to walk alone
Doe Waka
Doe Waka
Doe Waka
Doe Waka

         Fourth: Dialog with the children.

Today we are going to talk about The Nature.

         Who knows what Nature is?

Ask them for examples as many as they can give, try to have from the all kingdoms (minerals, plants, animals and human).

In the meanwhile, the Spiritist worker will show pictures of Nature and will ask to the children to tell what they can see as Nature.

Click here to find the pictures we used.

So, have you got any idea who had created all of it? Flowers, mineral, stones, mountains, plants, animals, water,…

Yes, great it was God, our Father and Creator. Explain to them that all the nature was created by God, He is the supreme intelligence and the First Cause of all things is the origin of everything that exists in the universe.

So, who can give examples of God’s creation? (Emphasise the nature is creation of God)

Fifth: The Spiritist volunteer will bring few boxes and inside of each box will contain water, ground, leaves and dead tree sticker, flowers, seeds, fruits…

The Spiritist Volunteer will ask for one child at each time put their hand inside of the box and tell what is in there. And the child can either act or use mimics to answer the questions: what it is, where we can find it in the nature, how it is helpful and important for all of us, how we can care of it. After all the children had our time, the Spiritist Worker will open all the boxes and ask again the names of the elements of the nature.

         Examples:

Plants can be used as medicine and aliment. They renew the air we breathe and make the world look even more beautiful.

The seeds grow and become fruits trees which provide food for us.

The animals help us providing aliments, cloths, also some of they can be domesticated and become our friends.

The ocean keeps all type of fish alive; provide water for all the nature. For us is important for: cooking, having a bath, drinking, watering the plants, source of energy…

The ground is useful to plant: vegetables, flowers, trees…

At the end, ask the children how we can collaborate every day to preserve our planet. Here are some examples:

         * Recycle and stop polluting the rivers and oceans.

         * Throw litter in a bin, we always can find one on a street.

         * Switch the lights, heating off when we leave the room

         * Use less water when we are washing up, brushing our teeth, having a shower…

Animals and plants are God’s creations. We should respect them; we need to leave in peace and harmony with nature.

Sixth: Prepare the class for the story: The Nature

Seventh: Conversation about the story: We had heard about Marcia and she didn’t like the Nature, right?

         * Who can remember about the history and can tell something? Try to address their answers and comments for those questions

         * What didn’t Marcia like?

         * Who can remember what she agreed with her mother?

         * Who can remember what was different in Marcia’s routine after the agreement?

         * Who can remember what’s milk, sugar, coffee, bread, notebooks come from? Ask them more examples

         * What happened after Marcia’s day? Did she change her idea?

         * Do I like the Nature? Who does like the Nature in here?

         * Explain how the Nature is important and helpful for us to eat, wear, wash, drink, to keep all of us alive in the Earth,…

         * Now, ask for example how we can care for nature? Listen to their answers.

Eighth: Activity - The spiritist Worker will bring modelling clay for the kids play.

Ninth: Please find here an activity that can be given to the children as homework, taken from the internet.
