Sharing is Good for Kindergarten II

First: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them and how important they are for the class. The volunteer will start the class with an opening prayer. The children would be able to volunteer themselves to do the prayer.

After that, the Spiritist worker will introduce the “Raffle Box of Prayers”. In your turn, each child will open the box, choose one prayer and read it loudly for whole class. We will do it until all the kids have their chance to choose and read a prayer.

Second: Prayer Activity - The volunteer will discuss with the children about the prayer “Prayer for the Sunny and Rainy Days” from the book LEARNING HOW TO PRAY - A BOOK OF PRAYERS FOR CHILDREN by Elsa Rossi. Each one will also receive a copy of the prayer.

Prayer for the Sunny and Rainy Days
Dear God,
My Mum always tells me that we have to thank you for the beautiful sunny days and also for the rainy days.
This beautiful sunny day reminded me I should thank you for the sun.
We wake up early and with the energy to go to school feeling happy under the warm sun.
I am thankful my God for the nice sunny and rainy days

Third: Invite the children to sing some songs together.

Fourth: Tell them the story called: 'The Rainbow fish’ by Marcus Pfister.

Note: The Rainbow Fish is an award-winning children’s book drawn and written by Marcus Pfister, and translated into English by J. Alison James. The book is best known for its morals about the value of being an individual and for the distinctive shiny foil scales of Rainbow Fish. DHX Media turned the story into a 26-episode animated television series of the same name, which has aired on the HBO Family television channel in the United States since 1999.

The rainbow fish was the most beautiful fish in the sea. But he never played with the other fish. I am too beautiful, he thought.

Once, a little blue fish asked for one of his shining scales, but the rainbow fish just laughed. ‘Never’! he said. After that the other fish swam away from him. The rainbow fish was all alone.

He went to the starfish for help. ‘Why doesn’t anybody like me?’ he asked.

‘Go ask the octopus’ said the starfish. ‘She is very wise’. The octopus said, ‘Give away your shinning scales. You won’t be as beautiful but you will have friends.’

‘I can’t do that!’ cried the rainbow fish.

Suddenly the little blue fish was back. ‘Please, could I have just one scale?’ he said. Well, the rainbow fish thought, maybe just one tiny little scale. The little blue fish was so pleased it made the rainbow fish feel happy. Soon all the fish came.

Fifth: Activity – Colour the characters of the story. Get the children to retell the story and share their drawing with another colleague.

Sixth: Rainbow fish Activity – Create our own rainbow fish out of construction paper, colour it, glitter, paint, etc. Once the work is completed, we will sit around in a circle and say: We now learned with the rainbow fish the importance of sharing and being good friends to one another. Let’s all do the same. We will share our rainbow fish with the person sitting on our right hand side.

Seventh: Show the children the videos from the series ‘I Am Good At Sharing: Teaching children the importance of Sharing’

Eighth: Healing Theatre - Prepare the kids for the healing time. Put one chair at the centre of the room and ask for one child to seat on the chair. They will be asked to show how he/she would be behaving upstairs during the healing time.

Ninth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.
