Respect for Others' Property

         Opening Prayer

First: please tell the children the story called [Respect to other’s property]. We used in these class two pictures created by the spiritist teacher Cleusa Lupatini from Grupo Espírita Seara do Mestre. You could also use other resources such as: you could draw the story at the board whilst it’s been told, use pictures from magazines or show pictures from different books.

         Picture 2.

Second: please make comments about the story with the children. We are now going to use the ‘Musical box’ technique for this activity. Please take several questions referring to the topic and place it inside a box. The spiritist teacher should play a spiritist song. The children should be sitting in a circle and a box should be given to them. As soon as the music starts, the children will start handing the box over to the person sitting next to them. When the music stops, whoever is holding the box will have to open it and get one of the questions that were placed inside the box before the activity started. This technique is also known as Hot Potato (game). This class was designed for Kindergarten students (3 to 4 years old) and most of the children might not be able to read or write yet. The spiritist teacher might have to read the questions to the children.

Questions Suggested for this activity:

Peter saw that Vince dropped money off from his pocket. What should he do?

If someone does something in concealment, who will know about it?

Eduardo took Peter’s car without asking his permission. What would you say to Eduardo if you saw that happening?

What should we do when we find something that doesn’t belong to us?

Jesus taught us to love our brothers. Are we putting into practice Jesus’ teachings when we look after and respect other people’s belongings?

Antonio’s brother got a box of chocolates as a present. Antonio feels like eating it; should he just take it or ask his brother first?
