Respect within Family Members II


         First: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them and how important they are for the class.

         The volunteer will start the class with an opening prayer. The children would be able to volunteer themselves to do the prayer.

         After that, the Spiritist worker will introduce the “Raffle Box of Prayers”. In your turn, each child will open the box, choose one prayer and read it loudly for whole class. We will do it until all the kids have their chance to choose and read a prayer.

         Second: Prayer Activity - The volunteer will discuss with the children about the prayer “Prayer to Jesus” from the book LEARNING HOW TO PRAY - A BOOK OF PRAYERS FOR CHILDREN by Elsa Rossi. Each child will also receive a copy of the prayer.

         Third: Invite the children to sing some songs together.

         My God is so Big

         So strong and so mighty
         There is nothing that He cannot do (2x)

         The rivers are His
         The mountains are His
         The stars are His handy work too

         +++ sing other songs from the songs’ list as per attached here.

         Fourth: Board game - The volunteer will prepare a board game in order to emphasize the respect within members of the family.

         How to play:
         Pictures, numbers and colours will be placed in the board.
         Place the board on a table. Each child will choose one token to represent him/her while traveling around the board.

         According to the space the token reaches, the child may be entitled to:
         * Answer questions when reached numbers
         * Go backwards when reaches pictures showing bad behaviour
         * Go forward when reaches pictures showing good behaviour


         Fifth: Puzzles - Each child will receive 2 puzzles which they need to join the pieces together and discover the picture. One picture will show a child having a bad behaviour with their parents and the other shows a child having a good behaviour.

         The volunteer will emphasize the importance to respect who we live with and also how we can learn to do it in our everyday lives. This activity is based on questions such as:

         * How can I help my brothers and sisters?
         * How can I help my friends?
         * How can I listen to my mum/father a little bit more?
         * How can I do what my mum/father says without complain?
         * How can I speak without shouting?
         * How can I thank my parents for everything they do for me?

         The volunteer can also use Jesus pictures in order to show how much we can learn from him and how close he is from us.

         Sixth: Hands Activity - The children will be asked to do an outline of their hands in a piece of paper. In the space of each finger they should write the days of the week; and in the other side of the paper they should choose 5 nice words to say to their parents.

         So, during the week, the kids should try to say the word chosen at least once.

         All the time they use the nice word with someone they will be able to add a sticker in the hands. The volunteer will ask the kids to bring the hands’ activity next class to talk about their experiences.

         They can experience that activity with their colleagues at the class.

         Seventh: Healing Theatre - Prepare the kids for the healing time. Put one chair at the centre of the room and invite one child at time to sit down. The volunteer will ask to him to show how we should be during the healing time such as close their eyes, sit down still in the chair, put their hands in the laps, keep quiet, etc. After that the class should say if he/she is having a good behaviour and if yes they will receive a stick with says: “Good Girl, Good Boy, Well Done”.

         Eighth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.

         Homework: Let’s learn how to find good manners inside of us!
