Kindness for Kindergarten

First: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them and how important they are for the class. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the opening prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.

After that, the Spiritist worker will introduce the “Raffle Box of Prayers”. In your turn, each child will open the box, choose one prayer and read it loudly for whole class. We will do it until all the kids have their chance to choose and read a prayer.

When the activity with the “Raffle box of Prayers” finishes the volunteer will collect the booklet “The Lord’s Prayer” with the children who was responsible in the previous week.

The volunteer can make up a few questions, such as:

         * What did you most like in this prayer;

         * What could you learn during the week with the prayer and others

The child can also read the prayer for his/hers colleagues. Another child will be able to choose himself/herself to take the booklet home and bring next week, at the end of this activity.

         The Lord’s Prayer booklet

P.S. At the end of the class the parents will be informed and also asked about their availability to bring the booklet next week.

         Second: Seed and Tree

The main purpose of this activity is to show them what we sow we will reap afterwards. The volunteer will bring a seed shape and then ask if them can recognise it. After, the children will be asked how we use a seed for. And what does the seed become after?

So, we have a seed that we can plant to have a beautiful and nice tree.
A big tree will be placed in the middle of the room. It will be stuck on the wall; the volunteer can also dress himself/herself as a tree.

Ask the children: what type of fruit we will have if we plant a seed of banana tree? (bring pictures of bananas to stick on the tree)
Ask the children what type of fruit we will have if we plant a seed of apple tree? (bring pictures of apples to be placed on the tree)
         Other examples
So, what type of goodness tree I would have if I plant goodness inside of my heart?
What type of tree I will have if I “plant” help at home with my family? (bring pictures of children helping their parents)
What type of tree I will have if I “plant” share with my friends? (bring pictures of children sharing with others)
What type of tree we will have in our hearts if I always use nice words?
The same with: kindness, shaking hands, help a friend, be polite, wait for your turn, be nice with a friend, listen quietly, etc.

         Third: What’s inside?

The volunteer will bring many balls made with newspaper with a flower stuck inside. Each ball will be labelled with one of the children’s name.
One child at his/her turn should choose one ball and offer it to the child who has his/her name on the ball.
The children will after be asked to see what is inside of the ball.

The volunteer can emphasize with nice attitudes, such as kindness, that we can all be happy together!
Who likes to be kind with a friend here?

         Fourth: Offering and Sharing

The volunteer will ask the kids to queue. The volunteer will bring one ball representing the planet Earth, with many heart’s stick on it.

The first child in the queue should hold the ball, take one heart from there and offer it to the child next in the queue. This child will after pass the Earth ball to that child. He/she should then move to the end of the queue.

Children will have the opportunity to learn about offering and sharing.

Fifth: Video Colour Your World With Kindness

The volunteer will bring a few pictures of Jesus teaching people. He/she should interact with the kids by asking questions like:

         * What would you like to say to Jesus now?
         * What do you like in our friend Jesus?

The volunteer can also say that Jesus help us to see all the goodness we have inside of our heart.

Let’s now see how Jesus helps us to see all the goodness we have got in us.

Sixth: (7:10pm to 7:15pm): Reading Time:
Spiritist Books will be placed on the table for the children. The children would be invited to share, to read and say what they see when they are reading.

Extra Activity: Prepare the Planet Earth
Each child will receive a paper planet Earth with a picture of Jesus there.
They should colour the Earth and draw themselves there as well.

         Seventh: Prayer Activity

The children will prepare a big poster for Praying Time.

Children over 6 will be asked to prepare the prayers such as writing what we might ask or say to Jesus and God in our prayers. Meanwhile, the children under 6 will be colouring pictures of Jesus, people in hospital, nature, family, etc, that should be glued in the poster afterwards.

Eighth: Healing Theatre - The volunteer will bring the poster made by the children in the previous class and ask what they remember.

After, one by one should seat down on a chair placed in the middle of the room in order to show how we should behave during the healing and prayer time. At the end each child would receive one green tick stick.

Ninth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the closing prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.
