Jesus’ Birth for First Cycle

First: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them and how important they are for the class. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the opening prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.

After that, the Spiritist worker will introduce the “Raffle Box of Prayers”. In your turn, each child will open the box, choose one prayer and read it loudly for whole class. We will do it until all the kids have their chance to choose and read a prayer.

When the activity with the “Raffle box of Prayers” finishes the volunteer will collect the booklet “The Lord’s Prayer” with the children who was responsible in the previous week.

The volunteer can make up a few questions, such as:

         * What did you most like in this prayer;
         * What could you learn during the week with the prayer and others.

The child can also read the prayer for his/hers colleagues. Another child will be able to choose himself/herself to take the booklet home and bring next week, at the end of this activity.

         The Lord’s Prayer booklet

P.S. At the end of the class the parents will be informed and also asked about their availability to bring the booklet next week.

         Extra Activity: Reading Time
Spiritist Books will be placed on the table for the children. The children would be invited to share, to read and say what they see when they are reading.

The group would be divided into 2 small groups

Second: Introductory activity - the volunteer will give a puzzle to the children that illustrates where Jesus was born. Once they finish the puzzle, the volunteer will ask them what the puzzle is about and what they know about Jesus’ birth.

Third: Get the children to create the scene where Jesus was born out from a travel size Paper City Nativity Scene, as per below.

This is how the work will look like once assembled:

Note: Please bear in mind the star and the angel’s wings have been removed from the travel size Paper City Nativity Scene that will be used during this activity.

Fourth: The volunteer will tell the story, as the children assemble their travel size Paper City Nativity Scene and double check with them the true meaning of Christmas.
         Story – Jesus’ Birth

Fifth: Sixth: Create a storyboard – Get the children to draw Jesus’ birth, as if it’s a children’s comic book. They will need to draw the story and later share it with the rest of the group.

Sixth: Video - The volunteer will stop the video before the end, in which it is said: “Merry Christmas”

The volunteer will show the children a video that discusses how big is the universe.

The volunteer will discuss the question number 5 of the book mentioned before.

Kardec's question: Is universal space infinite or limited?
Spirit's answer: Infinite. If it had boundaries, what would be beyond them? I know it baffles your reason, yet reason itself tells you that it can be no other way. The same is true of the idea of the infinity of the universe – you will never be able to comprehend it from your small sphere.

         Get whole group back together

         Eighth: Prayer Activity
The Volunteer will use the book “Learning how to pray”, by Elsa Rossi. The prayer used will be: Prayer to Jesus - page 23.
         Prayer to Jesus

My Dad calls you our special brother which I think is lovely.
I am a very happy child, because I know that you leave in my heart.
I have learnt that you are the greatest example of Love that we have on earth.
I want you to know, my Dear Jesus, that I always think of you and don’t want you to be sad about anything.
That is why I am a child who wants to learn to love everyone in your name.
Thank you for loving us so much, Jesus!

         Ninth: Healing Theatre
The children should show how to behave during the healing and prayer time. The volunteer will bring a tray in order to introduce the education process after the healing: “taking the first cup of the tray”. At the end, every child would receive one happy face stick.

Tenth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the closing prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.
