Hygiene and Care

         First - Opening prayer: The Spiritist Volunteer will ask one child to read one topic of the “The Lord’s Prayer”. The Spiritist worker will introduce a box of prayer after the prayer and will ask for one child to volunteer himself/herself to read the prayer for the class. Please ask the child to say his/her words as well, as to complement the opening prayer.

         Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Play hot potato game with the children. When the music stops the child who is holding the hot potato ball will be asked to say what they like the most at the Spiritist Centre (their favourite activity, their favourite time, my favourite parable…)

         Third: Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

         +++ sing other songs from the songs’ list as per attached here.

         +++ please find an additional list of songs attached here.

         Fourth (6:15pm - 6:30pm): Start a conversation about our body and how important it is for us. Remind them what we have been learning till now:
         - the meaning of Divine Gift, present of God for all of us (The Spiritist worker will bring the big child body confectioned during the class about Functions of the Body. The children completed the drawing of a big child body using colourful pencils);
         - parts of the body (identify them and sing the song: head, shoulders, knees and toes – see below);
         - movements (quickly mimic, giving examples of good actions to be taken with our body);.

         The Spiritist Volunteer can also bring the boy and girl paper poster used in the earlier classes.
         God gave us this body for us stay for a period of time on the Earth in order to have some experiences to progress and evolve. Therefore, we should protect and care about this treasure; that is our body. (Ask the kids why our body is a treasure)
         So, now how can we take care of our physical body?
         How should we treat it?
         How can we respect it?

         The Spiritist Volunteer can also bring some pictures to help the children.

         Fifth: Watch the Video (Personal Hygiene at www.turtlediary.com) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEy0Ltlm3nU.

         Sixth: Activity - The Spiritist Volunteer will bring many objects that we use every day to care and keep ourselves clean such as: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, wipes, scarf, bottle of water, dishcloth, cap, gloves, shampoo,…

         The kids will have a change to take one and show how we use it and the importance of taking care of our physical bodies.

         Seventh: (6:50pm -7:00 pm): Tell the history “the box of chocolate”.

         Eighth: Talk about the history
         Why was Delbert sad?
         What did Delbert eat?
         What did happen to him afterwards?
         What did his mother teach him?

         Ninth: Activity - The kids will receive a sheet of paper which says: Healthy habits. The paper will be divided by 3 parts: morning, evening and night. Kids should glue the hygiene habits in the respective time of the day. Please note these pictures have been taken from the internet.

         Tenth: Healing Theatre - Prepare the kids for the healing time. Put one chair at the centre of the room and ask one child of each time to seat on the chair and show how he/she would be behaving upstairs.

         Eleventh: Preparation for closing prayer - Kids should choose a passage from the: Gospel According to the Spiritism for the kids, The Spirits Book for kids or the Heaven or Hell.
The volunteer will encourage the others kids to volunteer themselves for reading and give a quickly comment about it.

         Twelfth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.
