Human beings, the children of God for First Cycle
First: Opening prayer - The Spiritist Volunteer will bring the book LEARNING HOW TO PRAY - A BOOK OF PRAYERS FOR CHILDREN by Elsa Rossi. The following story will be told:
‘Prayer for the Love in the World
Dear Jesus,
My Dad always starts to pray by asking for protection for the world.
I want to do just like him and ask you to protect the world and to make love grow in people’s hearts.
May love be the smile in everybody, the joy of life and this way we all can be good neighbours and live in harmony?
Please Jesus, help the world to progress towards love!’
Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. The Spiritist worker will introduce a box of prayer after the prayer and will ask for one child to volunteer himself/herself to read the prayer for the class. Please ask the child to say his/her words as well, as to complement the opening prayer.
When the activity with the “Raffle box of Prayers” finishes the volunteer will collect the booklet “The Lord’s Prayer” with the children who was responsible in the previous week.
The volunteer can make up few questions, such as:
* What did you most like in this prayer;
* What could you learn during the week with the prayer and others
The children can also read the prayer for his/hers colleagues.
At the end, other child will be able to choose himself/herself to take the booklet home and bring next week.
The Lord’s Prayer booklet
P.S. At the end of the class the parents will be informed and also asked about their availability to bring the booklet next week.
Third: Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

Fourth: The volunteer will tell the following story to the children. Please note the children will receive one big puzzle with a world map on one side and a picture of someone being helped on the other side.
Once there was a scientist who was working very hard to find the cure for a harmful disease. He was researching at home and his son came up to him, asking him to play.
The scientist didn’t want to stop what he was doing so he decided to get a picture of a world map and cut into pieces. He then gave it to his son and asked him to assemble it instead. (The volunteer will now hand over the big puzzle to the children and ask them to assemble the world map puzzle. The story will only continue once the puzzle has been assembled)
The child managed to assemble the puzzle, even though he was only 3 years of age. The little boy came quickly up to his father and showed him the completed work. The father was astonished. How did he manage? The little boy said: ‘You asked me to fix the world but I couldn’t. I saw there were two people helping each other on the other side of the puzzle so I decided to fix them instead.’ (The volunteer will now ask the children to turn the puzzle around and see what’s on the other side)
The message is: we can’t always fix the world, but we can fix what’s around us.
Fifth: Activity – Stop/Continue Game: The children will see several pictures of different types of behaviour and will need to sort out between attitudes that should be stopped as well as attitudes that can be continued.
Please see pictures that were used for this activity attached to the powerpoint presentation.
Sixth: Good Manners Activity, which was found on the internet
Seventh: Activity - Cover Your Cough craft. All you need is a paper plate and some coloured card stock. The children should draw themselves and then the volunteer will trace their hands to use! This activity was also found on the internet.
Eighth: Activity – Create a Gratitude Card: Give A4 sheet of paper to each child and get them to fold into 4 parts. They will need to make a list of things they are grateful for to take home and share with the family.
Ninth: Healing Theatre - Prepare the kids for the healing time.
The volunteer will bring the following words:
* Healing Time
* Spirits Benefactors
* Good energy
* Be quiet
The children should answer what those words mean and explain the relation with what happen upstairs during the healing therapy.
Tenth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer. Explain we will follow the letters of the alphabet in order to choose the volunteer for the closing prayer. So, the child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks passed by.
