God Our Father

First: Opening prayer - The Spiritist Volunteer will bring the book LEARNING HOW TO PRAY - A BOOK OF PRAYERS FOR CHILDREN by Elsa Rossi. The following story will be told:

         My Morning Prayer

         Dear Jesus!

Thank you for the quiet night and nice dreams that I had.

Thank you for the beautiful day that is breaking.

I wanted to ask you my dear Jesus, that you protect my Mum, my Dad, my Brothers and Sisters and all of us this day.

I know my dear friend Jesus, that when we talk to you early I the morning, our day becomes much better!

Thank you, Jesus for protecting us today.

The Spiritist worker will introduce a box of prayer after the prayer and will ask for one child to volunteer himself/herself to read the prayer for the class. Please ask the child to say his/her words as well, as to complement the opening prayer.

Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Play hot potato game with the children. When the music stops the child who is holding the hot potato ball will be asked to answer what they do to help their family at home.

Third: Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

Fourth: Tell the children the story called The clouds

Fifth: Talk to the children about the story.

         - Where can we see God?

         - What is God?

         - How do we communicate with God?

         - Show me how you communicate with God

         - Can you think of any God’s creations?

Sixth: CLASSMATES MEASUREMENTS: Let children find a large designated area if the class is large, and stand together in ONE LINE... with arms outstretched and only finger tips touching each and then the volunteer can measure the distance from one end to the other of children. REMIND children GOD'S LOVE for them is greater than this measurement.

Seventh: HEART POSTER - Each child can be given a large red construction-paper HEART and draw one of God’s creations into the heart. Let child glue the red heart into a beautiful panel!

Eighth: Prepare the class for the story:

Jesus was a very kind man who lived in Earth 2000 years ago. He was a very good hearted person who helped and healed a lot of people. He taught a lot as well, and much of his teachings were done via stories. These are called parables.

He taught that Prayer is the language of intimacy with God. Jesus was very clear: the place that He would live in, would be a place of intimate communion with God. We believe He has called us to be His house and to turn our faces to Him. He said: “My house will be called a house of prayer.”

Get the children to follow the Five Finger Prayer | Sunday School | How to Pray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--zfL3Lazk8

Our hands are reminders of who to pray for. First you want to think of somebody who is close to your heart. Let’s look at our thumb finger. Who is someone close to your heart?

How about the index finger? Who’s far away from you?

Middle: This is the tallest finger. Let’s pray for someone who is a leader, such as the Prime Minister or mum/dad’s boss.

Ring: This finger is the only one that can’t stand up alone. Who is weak? Or someone who is sick or struggling or needs help?

Baby finger; little finger: Pray for someone who is little.

This will always be a reminder of the five kinds of people they can pray for.

Ninth: Closing prayer - One of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.

         Extra activity.

Class suggested being suitable for: Kindergarten (5 to 6 years old).

Spiritist volunteer: Carolina von Scharten, London, linked to BUSS - The British Union of Spiritist Societies.
