The Functions of the Body

         Opening Prayer

Objective: we are unique; we have a name, age, we are boys or girls. God loves us all equally.

First: comment from the spiritist teacher – God gave us a body with different parts so we could be born in the world. Each part of our body has a different function. Our body moves – give them some examples: grab our toys, ride a bike, run, smile, eat, sing, play with a ball. We are different physically from one another. Our weight, height, hair color, skin and age will determine that. God loves us equally and wants us to look after our physical body, since it’s a present He gave us.

Second: split the children in pairs and get them to sit down facing one another.
Ask them to touch each others nose, hair, arm, ears and also shake hands. Ask them to do this with kindness and gentleness, so the children can feel relax; realize physical differences and the importance of their body’s movements.

Third: bring colorful pictures of different clothes and ask the children in which parts of the body each piece of clothe is used. As soon as they reply, the spiritist teacher can build up a clothes line with a cord and ‘hand the clothes’ with clothes hangers.
Highlight the importance for the clothes to be clean and relevant to the external temperature; beauty or brand of the clothes don’t matter.

Fourth: Activities - build up a panel with the children’s hands and write their names on it. The spiritist teacher could get their hands painted with water color or just get their hands contour drawn with colorful pens. As the panel is finished, the spiritist teacher could lead the children to realize the hands are different from one another.
