Flowers and Fruits III

First: Opening prayer; get the children to repeat after the Spiritist volunteer. As weeks go by the Spiritist volunteers should encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate as the weeks unfold. The child’s name that starts with the letter B will do the closing prayer at the end of the session.

Second: Welcome the children into the session. Say how happy we are to see them there and how important they are for the class. Sing songs together; get the children to remain standing but in a circle.

         Hello my friend,
         Let’s learn and play,
We will learn about Jesus all night long!

         Good morning
Good morning, good morning, good morning (say the name of one of the children)
I am so happy today. Hooray!
Good morning, good morning, good morning (say the name of one of the children)
         My heart wants to say
Good morning, good morning, good morning (say the name of one of the children)

         Let's all sing and play
For Nature is so beautiful and wise
Teaches us to love every day

+++ repeat this song if necessary, as every child should hear their name being sang; this will help the children to feel integrated into the group).

+++ sing other songs from the songs’ list as per attached here.

+++ please find an additional list of songs attached here.

Third: Get the children to sit down into a circle. Tell them the story called The flower called Maggy.

Fourth: Ask the children - Ask if they know how fruits are born. Fruit comes from seeds that are planted, giving rise to a tree or a plant that grows. They have many leaves; at the right time, fruit are born. (The Spiritist volunteer should bring a bag full of different fruits and pass them around so the children can smell them. These fruits could be a banana, a plum, an apple, a pineapple, a melon, an orange, a nectarine, etc.)

         How are flowers born?

The flowers have scent and fruit have specific smells. The Spiritist volunteer should bring a flower (rose, for example) so that children can feel the scent and can also create opportunities for the children to smell different fruits.

The fruits provide food to humans and animals; flowers beautify the world.

Flowers and fruits were created by God and are an important part of nature.

Fifth: Different designs of fruits for the children to paint/colour them. Bring stickers so they can decorate their work.

         Pineapple

         Pear

         Strawberry

         Orange

         Banana

         Apple

         Plum

         Lime

Sixth: Spread around the floor different pictures of fruits and flowers all together. Ask them to identify which ones are flowers and which ones are fruits. Ask them if they know the name of the fruits that are in the pictures.

         Ask the children:

         Do you enjoy eating fruits?

Do you think it’s important to eat fruits? Why so?

What do you think flowers are important for?

Did you notice how different flowers and fruits can be from each other? There are many different types of fruits and flowers as every type is unique, just as we are unique in the eyes of God.

Seventh: Ask the children - what can we do to help the nature? Listen to their answers. Remember children, plants have that special something we also have in our physical bodies! They have vital fluid! Did you remember? From the song we sang last week? Shall we try it again?

         Vital Fluid
         Vital fluid is necessary,
         Necessary, necessary
For the life of living beings,
         Living beings, living beings

         Vital fluid is necessary,
         Necessary, necessary
         Even plants already have it,
Already have it, already have it.

Follow the music tune from the following song: London Bridge is falling down.

Remember that this is a fluid that gives life to all living beings. It is the fluid of life that helps maintain the vitality of our physical bodies.

Eighth: Give each child A4 sheet of paper, crayons and a dead leaf. Ask them to place the dead leaf under the A4 sheet of paper and use the crayons to scribe over the paper. They will soon notice that the leaf’s design will appear on their A4 sheet of paper. Ask them to decorate their work with the different pictures of fruits and flowers they found on the floor.

Ninth: Get the children to help cleaning the room; one of the children will do a closing prayer; encourage the children to volunteer for this task. If they don’t want to collaborate we could say we will follow the letters of the alphabet. The child’s name that starts with the letter A will do the opening prayer this time. Everybody will have the chance to collaborate.

Note: Please find an activity which can be used during this class or given to the children as homework here.
