Opening Prayer
First: tell the children the story called Apples and People. Please take some apples to this class and peal them as you tell the story. Please make sure you cut them in half, to exemplify the story.
Second: talk to the children and explain to them that:
Each person is unique, there is no one equal to one another;
Each person has a name; is either a girl or a boy (man or woman);
Each person was born in one day, has a certain age and belongs to a certain family;
When a person is born, she/he is born in the body of a baby;
This little body grows… and grows… Thus, each child was a baby and today is a boy or a girl;
Each part of the body has a specific function.
Third: show them a poster with the picture of a boy/girl. Point out each part of his/her physical body and ask what we can do with our hands, feet, eyes, ears, arms and mouth.
Fourth - remind them:
Each person has a different body on the outside, but inside we are equal to one another, just like the apples (we have a heart beating, lungs breathing, stomach to eat, etc.);
We should respect differences, not calling anyone by a name because they're fat or thin, tall or short;
The body is a gift from God our Father and we should thank Him for the gift received.
Fifth - Activity 1: Distribute a doll-shaped boy or girl and pieces of paper clothes that can be coloured by the children.
