Collaboration in the family

         Opening Prayer

First: tell the story called Veronica’s discovery.

Suggested drawings to illustrate the story.

Veronica remembering house duties that her mom does regularly.

         Vanessa offering water to Bob.

         Vanessa cleaning.

         Vanessa’s room.

         Veronica hanging out the washing.

Veronica helping her mom with home duties I.

Veronica helping her mom with home duties II.

Obs.: these drawings were created by Nícolas – children from 3rd cycle (11 to 12 years old).

Second: to the children about Veronica’s attitudes.

Has Veronica behaved correctly when she refused to help her mom?

Veronica thought house duties were not important. Do you agree? Why?

What was the purpose for Vanessa’s strike? She wanted her daughter to understand the importance of each person to fulfil their tasks at home. She wanted her to understand this in practice, by going on strike. She already spoke to Veronica about it, but the little girl didn’t give her much importance.

Third: talk about the importance of collaboration within the family. Ask the children if they collaborate at their homes and in which way. Use this opportunity to praise the ones who already help at home and encourage the others to start helping more at the house duties.

Every task is important at home; even the most simple ones such as offering water to your pet, storing your toys at the right place and doing your bed everyday. When everyone collaborates, our home becomes happier and calmer. There will be more time available to do things together, such as play or listen to music.

Remind them that Jesus, since early age, helped his family with their home duties. He is our model and guide.

Fourth - learning opportunity: to draw a family at the centre of the flower. Fold the paper at the spots to close the flower and glue it into a stick which can be coloured in green (stem of the flower). Another idea is to glue the flower into a magnet so it can be placed at their fridge or elsewhere. The spiritist teacher could help the children to write down feelings that are important to be cultivated in a family at the petals of the flower.
