The spiritist teacher should bring different types of animals and/or people puppets to this class. You could bring finger puppets, Hand or glove puppets, for example.
First:
please start your class by asking the children to rehearse through the puppets small tasks they can do to cooperate at home with their parents. Please write down the examples given by them on the board:
· Wash the dishes;
· Remove the dust from the furniture;
· Help hanging out the washing;
· Offer juice to a friend;
· Help with weekly shopping;
· Look after your younger brother when requested.
Obs.: please make a list of examples previous to this class for the children who might find this task difficult (please see here below some suggested tasks); you could write them into small pieces of paper and ask the child to choose one.
Second: please talk to the children about the importance of co-operating at home. A home should be a calm place where everyone helps each other. Every co-operation at home is important. Every task completed is beneficial to every member of the family. Please explain to them that Jesus co-operated with his parents when he was a child. He became a carpenter, helping his father with small tasks whilst he worked. Please ask the children to tell you the tasks they do at home or would like to do.
Just as we learn new things in school every year, our parents also learn new things throughout their lives. When they say to you we should eat such and such, please make sure you follow what they are saying: this is the best for us at this time.
It is each child’s task to help at home and obey their parents.
Activity:
Each child should draw down in a piece of A4 sheet paper small tasks they can do at home to help.
Suggestion received from the Spiritist Teacher Carolina von Scharten from Sir William Crookes Spiritist Society linked to BUSS - The British Union of Spiritist Societies:
We suggest the use of recycled materials whenever possible at the spiritist education classes.
Click here to see a picture which shows brooms made out of newspaper; the bins were created from plastic bottles. We used this material as part of the mimics’ game played by the children at this class.
