Our question was: how should we approach a topic that is quite old but in a modern and interesting way?

We started to question ourselves.... What happened 2010 years ago? The story we are about to tell is much older than that (this enabled the children to know this happened a long, long time ago....)

I found Moses’ story in a very interesting site http://www.searadomestre.com.br/evangelizacao. I printed all the colourful pages, glued them side by side and made them look as if they were a roll film. I have also designed a ‘TV’ from a show box. The spool of roll film was loaded on one side of the ‘TV’ and pulled across. This enabled us to show Moses’ life story as a movie. It was not 100% perfect, but it managed to capture the children’s attention. As the scenes were changing, I would tell them the story: Moses’ birth, the Pharaoh’s persecution, the process of freeing the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt, the Red Sea cross up until when he received the Ten Commandments.

I have reduced the size of the pictures and assembled them in a book form so the children could colour and tell Moses’ story to their friends and family.

Suggested class suitable for: Kindergarten (5 to 6 years old)
