Once upon a time, there was a beautiful white cat called Tiger who enjoyed playing at the garden and running after butterflies. It really liked playing.
Tiger was a lovely cat but he had a terrible imperfection: he was a glutton! He enjoyed eating and always ended up eating too much! Tiger would drink all the milk that his owner would give him, even if he was already full. The cat felt so tired after drinking the milk he had to lay down and rest for a while after he finished his meals. Tiger was always searching for the shadow of trees to sleep or rest for hours and hours and hours…. He couldn’t move after his meals at all because he was too full!
His mom, Frieda, felt really disappointed. After Tiger finished with his food and/or milk, Frieda would come close to him and meow sadly:
- Meow, Meow, Meow…. My son… One day you will feel really sick because of all the food you eat. Meow…
Tiger looked at her and yawned. He then stretched his paws, laid his head on his front paws and said to her:
- Meow, Meow, Meow…. Mom, it’s so good to eat! Can’t you see how beautiful and chubby I look? I will always be healthy!
Frieda meowed sadly and decided to warn her cub:
- I think you are mistaken, my son…. Meow, Meow, Meow…. It’s good to eat, but no one will stay healthy by eating too much. Over-consumption of food and drinks are not good for your body; plus, gluttony is a terrible vice
Unfortunately, the little cat didn’t choose to correct this vice. One day, Tiger was playing in the garden when he suddenly smelled something nice coming from the kitchen. It smelled so good! He could smell meat and cheese! Tiger decided to get into the kitchen. When he saw the dish, he ate everything straight away. Tiger was now delighted, but wanted more! His owner brought the cat salami and Italian sausage into his little plate.
Tiger looked at it and decided to eat everything in one goal. Now Tiger was feeling full! The cat decided to drink a lot of water after this big meal…
The cat then searched for his favourite place to rest: the shadow of his favourite tree. When he was walking towards the tree, he out of a sudden saw his owner carrying another dish. The glutton cat stopped, looked at his owner and decided to check this new dish. Therefore, his owner looked at Tiger and said:
- Now you go and rest, - she said – you have already eaten too much. This dish is for later. I am going out and will only come back tomorrow so this is not meant for you now...
Tiger was such a clever cat he knew he better not insist with his owner. Otherwise, she would be very angry. He then moved out towards the garden slowly… What was in that dish? Meat? No, it wasn’t meat. . . Salami and cheese? No! They already gave him a lot of food. He knew he wasn’t meant to eat that dish at any time soon, since he just had a good meal. Salami? No…. Tiger wanted to find out desperately!
The glutton cat decided to wait a little bit before taking a nap. Tiger knew, if he fell asleep, he wouldn’t wake up any time soon. His belly was too full! When his owner left the house, Tiger decided to come closer to his little plate. That dish was meant to be his dinner. He wasn’t going to eat it, as he was really full. He already had two small dishes earlier on. He just wanted to look at it….. Just come closer to it….. When Tiger got closer to his little plate, he was able to smell a wonderful meal he already tasted before.
- Milk! Meow! – He screamed. – Warm milk with bread! This is my favourite meal! I wish I didn’t eat the salami previously! What if I just tasted it a little bit?
Tiger started to taste it and ended up eating the whole dish….
Tiger started to taste it and ended up eating the whole dish. Suddenly, Tiger looked up. He was out of breath. He realized he finished off another meal. He started to feel dizzy; his stomach was in pain…. He also had a headache. Tiger wanted to walk, but couldn’t. He then laid on thee floor and started to moan… Meow, Meow, Meow….
Frieda was able to find her son laying on the floor and moaning. She decided to lick his head in order to relieve him for his pain…. She then said to him:
- Son, what have you done? Meow, Meow, Meow….
Tiger felt quite ashamed of his behaviour. He closed his eyes for a moment and touched his stomach. He was in great pain.
Three days later, Tiger got much better. He looked like a different cat. He was now able to play as he was playing before.
Tiger learned an important lesson now and changed his behaviour. He was now able to overcome his vice. He was not a glutton cat anymore. Since this moment on, his mother Frieda never felt sad again….
