1. And when you thou pray, you should not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corner of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their rewards. But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you shut the door, pray to the Father which is in secret; and the Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Don’t be like them: for your Father knows what things you have need of before you ask Him (Matthew, 6: 5-8).
2. And when you stand praying, forgive, if you ought against any: that your Father also which is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses (Mark, 11:25 & 26).
3. And He spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in them that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself God, I thank you, that l am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers or even as this publican. I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto Heaven, but beat his breast and said: God be merciful unto me a sinner. I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts he will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke, 18: 9-14).
