"(...) It was at this same opportunity that he (Divaldo Franco) had a contest for a position at the Office of the State Security and Assistance (IPA-SE). He passed the exam and started to work as a public official on 5th December, 1945. An interesting fact happened in this job. As he met the public, he often stood up and went to the counter to greet people. Sometimes, however, he was seen talking with no one in front of him. The spirits came, he saw them; but he didn’t know they were disincarnate. He would talk to them with enthusiasm.

         Other officials of the IPA-SE, who knew nothing about psychic clairvoyance, thought Divaldo was not well. An older employee, who worked very closely with Divaldo, agreed with him the following: "Divaldo, my son, let’s do the following: when you see someone in the balcony, look at me. If I make a yes sign with my head, you go and meet the person because it's a living being. If I make a no sign with my head, you won’t go because that person in disincarnate. They agreed on that. "This is what helped the eminent medium keep his job, because his boss had already recommended him to go see a good doctor."
