When God Created Mothers

There is a legend that said that when God created a model of a mother, a messenger came to him and asked him: “God why so much care about this creation? In what, after all, she’s so special?

The kind and patient Father explained to the messenger that: “That woman has a special role, as a mother, so she deserves special care.

She should have a kiss that have the power to heal anything from minor bruises to dating brake ups.

She should be endowed with skilled hands to prepare quick snacks for her child, while she stirs the food in the stove, to make sure that the diner won’t burn.

She should have the basics of nursing to heal the physical wounds and be a professor in medicine of the soul to balm the wounds of the hurt soul.

She should have hands that nurture, but they have to be firm at the same time to provide reassurance to the child of faltering steps.

She should have hands which could turn an almost insignificant piece of fabric, to a special outfit for a school party.

She should possess many pairs of eyes. One pair to see through closed doors… at the moment she wonders what the kids are up to in the closed room.

Another pair to see what she doesn’t want to, but need it to and, of course, a normal pair of eyes to gaze with a sweet look that says when her child is in trouble: “I understand. Do not be afraid. I love you”, even without saying a word.

This model of woman should still be given the ability to convince a child of nine years old to take a bath, a five year old to brush teeth and sleep when it's time.

A delicate model, for sure, but tough, able to withstand the storm of adversity and protect their children.

She should overcome the disease itself for the benefit of their loved ones and to feed a family with the bread of love.

A woman with the ability to think and make different deals with different age groups.

A woman with the ability to shed tears of longing and pain but still insist that her child leaves to pursuit her happiness, moral and spiritual growth.

A woman with special tears…tears of joy for moments of happiness and tears of sorrow for moments with disappointment and loneliness.

A woman with tender lips…to sing lullabies for her baby or to say the right words for the blunders made by her regretful son.

Lips that talk about God, the Universe and love. Lips that sing poems to celebrate the beauty of nature and the charms of life.

That is why she must be created with so much care…A woman. A mother”.
