Greetings and Opening Prayer

         First: start bringing the discussion of the subject from the previous meeting (Influence of the Spirits / Mediumship II), in regards to typtology (method of communication with spirits by means of rapping with various codes being arranged for the purpose) and sematology (the science of indicating thought by signs).

         Question the young group about the beginning of mediumship manifestations. This has been happening since ancient times; give them the examples of Joan of Arc, Moses, among others. Then ask them the following question: when did the phenomena begin to be viewed as facts that needed to be studied?

         The children should now expose their knowledge about Allan Kardec and turning tables, as well as the Fox sisters’ phenomena.

         Second: writing in the board the names - Emmanuel Swedenborg, Andrew Jackson Davis and Hydesville phenomena; in that order. Divide the youth group into three teams and give each group one of the following texts.

         Each group must point out the highlights from each text after reading them, raising awareness to the important issues and links found in the texts to the larger group.

         The main relations we emphasized were the connection between Emmanuel Swedenborg and Andrew Jackson Davis, as well as dates of birth and disincarnation. We also highlighted Andrew Jackson Davis’ prediction of the Fox sisters’ phenomena; it happened on the same night in which the phenomena occurred.

         Third: close the discussion, emphasizing the influence of what was studied in relation to Allan Kardec and the Spiritist Codification, which may be the subject of the next meetings.
