There’s a legend about some poor woman with a child on her lap. She passed in front of a cave where she heard a mysterious voice inside telling her: "Come and take whatever you want, but don’t forget the most important thing. Remember one thing: The door will close forever after you leave. So, enjoy the opportunity, but don’t forget the most important thing..."
The woman entered the cave and found many riches. She was fascinated by the gold and jewels put the child down and started to gather everything she could in her apron, eagerly. The mysterious voice spoke again: "You only have eight minutes."
Once the time was up, the woman ran out of the cave loaded with gold and precious stones. The door closed... She then remembered that the child had been there and the door was now closed forever! The wealth lasted for a very short period of time but her despair lasted for all of her life.
The same happens sometimes with us. We have, on average, eighty years to live in this world. There’s a voice always warning us: "Don’t forget the most important things!"
The most important things are: spiritual values, prayer, vigilance, family, friends and life! But greed, wealth and material pleasures fascinate us so much that the most important things always get away... Thus, we have exhausted our time here and have left the essential: "The treasures of the soul!"
Let us never forget that life in this world is fast and that death comes unexpectedly. Therefore, let us never forget the most important things.
