The Blue Flower

Teresa was shopping at the supermarket and suddenly bumped into a stranger: - Oh, my apologies! This was her reaction.

And he said - Oh, I am so sorry, I just didn’t see you!

They were very polite with each other; this stranger and her.

So they parted and each one went their own way.

Later on that day, she was preparing dinner and her son stood by her side so silently she didn’t notice him.

When she turned around, she felt scared and shouted at him.

         - Out of my way son! She said out loud.

And he walked away; his little heart broken into pieces...

She didn’t realize how rude she was to him.

She could hear the calm voice of her guardian angel telling her when she went to bed:

         - You were so polite when you were talking to a stranger! But you didn’t even bother to be polite with your son, the child you love! Look at the kitchen floor. You'll find some flowers near the door. Those are the flowers he brought for you. He even picked them himself; a pink, a yellow and a blue one. He stood quietly not to spoil the surprise and you never saw the tears in his eyes.

Teresa felt very small at this point...

She was the one crying now.

She then went to her son's room, knelt beside his bed and said:

         - Wake up baby, wake up. Are these the flowers you picked for me? He smiled:

         - I found them under the tree. I picked them because they're pretty just like you! I knew you would enjoy, especially the blue one.

She said: - Son, I'm sorry for the way I acted today. I should never have yelled at you.

         - Oh Mom, that's okay, I love you anyway!

         - I love you too. And I like the flowers, especially the blue one.
