What are drugs? Medicine currently defines drug as any substance that is capable of modifying the function of living organisms, resulting in physiological or behavioural changes. Thus, any medication is a drug, even a harmless aspirin. This is why we should not self-medicate, because drugs can heal us in a certain dosage (only your doctor can determine according to each specific case because each body reacts in a way) or harm us very badly. Illicit drugs are called psychotropic; that is, they work in our brains, changing the psyche in some way. These changes depend on the type of drugs we ingest.
