God created us simple and ignorant

Give each adolescent a blank sheet of paper and ask them to crush it well.

The spiritist teacher should then ask them to try to make it smooth again, without any folding. Relate the paper with our condition: we were created simple and ignorant (The Spirits’ Book, q. 115); that is to say, possessing an equal aptitude for good and for evil. Through the incarnations we make choices; many of them were wrong choices, leading us to unfortunate paths (making our life full of folds, just like the piece of paper). Reincarnation enables us to transform our shortcomings into virtues; becoming better spirits (flattening the paper).
