Fear of Challenges

Material: box, chocolate and a sound system (radio or CD).

Procedure: Fill the box with newspaper so the children don’t realise what's inside. Place chocolate in the bottom of the box with a note saying: EAT CHOCOLATE! Ask the class to make a circle. The spiritist teacher holds the box and explains: - Do you see this box? Inside this box there is an order to be fulfilled. Let's play "hot potato" with it. Whoever gets the box will have to accomplish the task that’s written inside the box without complaints. No matter what it may be, nobody will be able to help his/her colleague. The challenge must be met only by the one who has the box (it’s important that the spiritist teacher speaks in a way that awakens a certain fear of the content of the box in the children, saying it may be extremely difficult or may be embarrassing to do that task).

The game begins with the music on. The children must pass the box to one another. When the music stops the child who got the box in his/her hands will have to accomplish the task (the spiritist teacher should be looking backwards to the group so he/she doesn’t see who has the box).

It is important that the spiritist teacher makes comments like: Are you prepared? You need to be brave... After a lot of suspense, the child finally opens the box and finds a delightful surprise.
