Self-knowledge

         Greetings and Opening Prayer

Lesson Objective: Create opportunities for the young people to understand and conclude, through the proposed dynamics, that by knowing the Spiritist Teachings, they will have a better chance to get to know them.

First - suggested group dynamic: Get the young group to sit in a circle. The spiritist teacher will hand them a "pump" (Styrofoam ball with chocolate or candy inside). The “pump” should be tossed to each other while music plays. The player who is holding the "pump" when the music stops will need to draw a question from a box and answer it. Play continues until all questions were answered.

OBS.: The adolescent who is holding the "pump" when the music stops will have the right to open it and grab a chocolate.

Suggested questions to be used to develop the group dynamic:
         1) What is Spiritism?

         2) What is the purpose of you to be participating in the Spiritist Youth Group?

         3) What is the best way to invite a friend to the youth group, in your opinion?

         4) What does the Youth Group contribute to you; to your life?

         5) What’s the first book, within the Spiritist Pentateuch?

         6) There is a reference to a sage of antiquity in question 919 from The Spirits’ Book. Do you know who he is, what he said and what difference does that phrase make to your life? (Read the first two paragraphs from ‘The Gospel According to Spiritism’, pg. 43, Ch. IV - after the question is answered by the adolescent).

         7) What do I need to do to get to know myself? (Refer to question 919 from The Spirits’ Book).

         8) What features should have "a good human being" in your opinion? (see Chap. XVII from The Gospel According to Spiritism).

Second - conclusion: get to know ourselves is "key" (the right attitude) for our individual improvement. This knowledge is gained through questioning our consciousness gradually; plus, changing our habits is essential.

         Closing Prayer
