Greetings and Opening Prayer
Lesson Objective: get to know the group, in order to adapt the content to the knowledge and needs of the young people.
First: distribute several magazines, with various pictures. Ask them to choose a picture they liked and another one they did not like. The pictures should be pasted on a blank sheet of paper; they must write down the reason for their choice.
Note: the spiritist teacher must bring to class blank sheets of paper, glue and coloured markers to be used in the activity.
Second: each young person should say their name, introducing themselves. They should then present their work to the group, explaining the reason for their choices. Furthermore, they should tell you something they already know about the Spiritist Teachings as well as a subject they would like to see studied in the Spiritist Education classes.
Examples of the pictures displayed in our classroom:
Protest against mistreatment of animals.
Love within the family.
Third: the spiritist teacher must establish a dialogue saying that the images stir our feelings and emotions. Ask them which images can help us to feel peace, joy and love. These are the images that we should cultivate. Remember that the spiritist meetings assist us in cultivating good feelings and understand that some of the things we think are the best for us might not be, really.
Fourth: the spiritist teacher should place him/herself as part of the group, as someone who is learning along with the young group. You should position yourself as someone who is open to suggestions and activities to be performed within the goals of Spiritist Education classes.
Fifth: draw a panel together with the pictures they liked. The figures the group didn’t like should not be exposed, because good images are the ones we should cultivate. A welcoming and encouraging message could be placed in this panel, for the young group.
Spiritist Education is the way to happiness!
